Belgische komieken

Aangezien we de voorbije maand de volledige lessen Nederlands toegewijd hebben aan het thema humor, leek het me wel een goed idee mijn blog te schrijven over de meest bekende komieken van België. In België kennen we wel een aantal goede komieken: Nigel Williams, Geert Hoste, … De persoon die bij de jeugd het meest bekend is, is natuurlijk Alex Agnew.

Geert Hoste staat weliswaar bekend om zijn moppen over België. Iedere keer opnieuw weet hij zeer humoristische conferences te brengen over de politieke situatie van België. Problemen in de maatschappij of televisieprogramma’s maakt hij graag belachelijk. Over de Koninklijke familie staat zijn mondje ook niet stil. De coupe van koningin Fabiola  zit er toch op zijn minst 1 keer in. Vaak probeert hij er ook een geparodieerde act in te steken. Zo heeft hij ooit een liedje geschreven over het gedrag van Ignace Crombé. Ik zie zijn voorstellingen graag, maar er wordt redelijk veel herhaald. Na een tijdje wordt het voor mij afgezaagd. Het is dan ook redelijk gemakkelijk te voorspellen hoe zijn moppen gaan zijn.

Alex Agnew is mijn persoonlijke favoriet. Zijn grappen zijn vaak redelijk grof en sarcastisch, maar dat mag. Er is niets mis mee. Vaak vertellen ze gewoon de waarheid. Zo moeten niet alle moslims moeten zich aangesproken voelen wanneer hij grappen maakt over de zelfmoordterroristen.

In een van zijn laatste shows heeft hij heel veel over zijn dochtertje gepraat, Amy. Het hele publiek kon horen hoe hij zijn vaderschap beleefde. Schattig hoe een dergelijk stoere man toch ook een klein hartje kan hebben. Ik zou hem graag ook eens live zien (als de ticketverkoop het toelaat natuurlijk).

Nigel Williams heb ik live aan het werk gezien. Het was een goede show, maar redelijk grof. Voor mij een beetje te grof. Zijn absurde moppen over de uitbuiting van Afrikaanse kinderen en de verkrachtingen van hun moeders door de soldaten, gingen me net iets te ver. Hij deed zijn best, dat zag je wel, maar ik vond hem een ‘wannabe-Alex-Agnew’.

Zoals je wel vaker hoort, worden deze komieken vaak geconfronteerd met slechte kritieken. Vaak omdat hun moppen te grof waren, of niet aangepast aan hun publiek. Ik vind dat dit niet nodig is. Vaak maken komieken gewoon grappen over de problemen in onze maatschappij. Wanneer je niet tot die groep behoort, moet je er je niet door aangesproken voelen. Ze mogen grappen maken over alles, zolang het een beetje hoffelijk blijft.

Adele, biggest star of the 21st century.

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins is only 24 years old, but is already called the star of the 21^st century. With her unique voice, it’s almost like she can put a spell on you. Adele has more success than Madonna or even The Beatles in their glory days. Not because she has done something weird or bizarre. She just acted the way she is from the very beginning, and now everybody admires her. She didn’t have to use any tricks to get attention.

Let us take a look to other big celebrities; they always did something extraordinary to become a little more famous than somebody else. Madonna took her clothes of in front of a big audience, she kissed intimate in public with Britney Spears, Britney Spears shaved herself bold after she had to go a centre to get rid of her alcohol and drugs problems. They make the music business look like something bad. Taking drugs, drinking alcohol and now and then writing or singing a song. For my opinion, Adele is able to work that image away.

Adele was born on the 5^th May 1988 in London. When she was four years old, she already got interested in singing and covering songs. The little girl had a lot of passion for music. Nowadays, we can still notice that to way she brings and sings her songs. Every time she writes a song, she makes it with her heart and soul. Her youth wasn’t easy at all, but singing kept her motivated to move on in life, and leave the bad things behind. Adele is a really shy person. At the beginning of her career, she didn’t even dare to look straight into the camera.

Her first album got released when she was 19 years old. The album was named after her age at that time. Her second album is called 21. Original, don’t you think? She wrote a lot of big hits like Chasing Pavements, Make you feel my love, Rolling in the deep. Her most recent song is Someone like you. When I listen to the song, it feels like she pours her heart out.  Perhaps writing songs is a good way to write down your feelings, and to get rid of the bad things in your life.

Adele has in her young life already received 2 big awards:

·        *  Grammy award for the best new artist

·        * The best sound of…

30 seconds to mars

In vuur en vlam stond de Lotto Arena van Antwerpen tijdens het concert van 30 seconds to mars. Hun veelbelovende intro bevestigde mijn gevoel dat het een geweldige rockende avond zou worden. Jammer genoeg verliep die niet zo vlot. Hun voorprogramma was niet echt wat je ‘goed’ kunt noemen. Toen deze uiteindelijk van het toneel waren verdwenen, moesten we echter nog 45 minuten wachten. Maar, beste mensen, het was het wachten waard. Gitaren, hopen bekende liedjes en een goede sfeer. Meer heeft men niet nodig, toch?

De band bestaat uit 3 jonge knapen die leven voor muziek. Jared, de leadzanger, en broer/drummer Shannon zijn al van jongs af aan bezig met muziek. Jared is misschien wel te kennen van enkele films, want hij is namelijk ook acteur. De gitarist van de band is niet officieel familie, maar zo wordt hij door de twee anderen zeker wel beschouwd. ‘We couldn’t imagine a life without Tomo.’

Iedereen weet welk drama er zich dit jaar heeft afgespeeld: Pukkelpop. Zelfs zij wisten er van. Drie van hun mooiste liedjes werden akoestisch gespeeld en opgedragen aan de slachtoffers. Jared was tussen het publiek gaan staan. Enkel en alleen één spot op hem gericht, volledige duisternis in de zaal en sfeerlichtjes van alle aanwezigen. Zo’n 500 mensen waren in de zaal. Niemand durfde een woord uitbrengen. Het was indrukwekkend.

Het concert vond ik echt megagoed. Ik heb erg veel respect voor de band. De meeste artiesten komen het podium op, geven hun showtje om dan zo snel mogelijk weer van het toneel te verdwijnen. Deze band communiceert met hun publiek. Ze pikken zo nu en dan mensen eruit om op het podium te komen. Jared heeft zo nu en dan al eens de neiging om letterlijk het publiek in te ‘vliegen. Hun muziek is geweldig goed en hun teksten bevatten enkel en alleen de waarheid. Ze hebben ook heel veel respect voor het land waar ze optreden. Tijdens één van hun bekendste liedjes, Closer to the edge, kreeg Jared het leuke idee om de Belgische vlag rond zich te hangen. Een hilarisch zicht als je het mij vraagt.

Jared sloot de avond af met de volgende woorden:

“ Some people may think that you guys are crazy to come to this concert. But let me tell you something: I am crazy and I understand why you guys are here. That’s the most important thing! And let me tell you something else, we don’t have any fans. We just have the greatest family in de the world.”

Dit maakte mijn avond compleet!

  

Sherlock Holmes

Finally! World’s most known detective is back. The second movie about the intelligent man and his close friend Dr. Watson, is about to be released. Yes, my dear friends, I’m talking about Sherlock Holmes. The man who could solve any murder or crime.

Off course Sherlock wasn’t a real man. He was the head-player in fictional stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Arthur was born in Scotland on the 22^nd of May in 1859. He wasn’t only a writer, but also a physician. The man was raised very well and was a good studier. When he got into a fight with his co-doctor in the practice, Doyle started his own practise. Unfortunately it wasn’t successful at all. While he kept waiting for the patients, he writhed. His first published work was ‘A study of Scarlet’. Together with the book, Sherlock Holmes was born. He was the character that got Sir Doyle popular. Even these days, when we say the word detective, we automatically think about Sherlock Holmes.

The books Arthur wrote, mostly existed out of multiple short stories. These books got so known, that they even made movies out of them.  

Before the movie, that got released in 2009, there were more movies made. These movies didn’t have that much success. The movie in 2009 was about a man named Blackwood. He got executed and a few days after his death, his tomb was open. In his coffin, they found the body of somebody else. Holmes believes it is his job to find out, what happened. And who those three other people were Blackwood was talking about, before his execution. Together with Dr. Watson, they go out on a search.

The movie was nominated for the ‘Golden Globe’.

To my opinion the movie has a good concept. The script is well written. It makes you very curious. I think it’s a movie, which keeps your attention all the time. I believe it’s a real recommend. 

Happy Halloween!

October…  The most scary month of the year. In the United Kingdom, inhabitants pay a lot of attention to Halloween. Every 31^st of October, people get on the street to celebrate Halloween. Some people organize a costume party, children go from house to house to collect candy and other things. This is called ‘Trick or treat’. The night of the 31^st October, is the only night in the year that ghosts, witches and wizards are able to come and sneak around. Some people believe in it, other think it’s superstition. 

In our country, people aren’t as motivated as the inhabitants of the UK. We go on organized strolls, where people, hidden in scary costumes, can frighten us. The fact that children in our society aren’t going trick or treating is due to the parents, who believe that children aren’t safe anymore. During the night, criminals and bad people, walk on the streets, and they could hurt their little babies.

All this started during the period the Celts were alive. It’s a habit created by them, they celebrated the dead with a pre-Christian festival. Their calendar was different from ours, our year starts on January the first, theirs on November the first. For them , the first marked the beginning of the winter.

The festival was called Samhain, the Celts believed that during the festival the ghosts and spirits of the dead were able to come in our world and could join our life.

These days, people don't believe anymore in the stories of ghosts who come and get you. They all believe that it's superstition. Only few of them still think that ghosts do exist. 

Hasta la vista, baby!

Hasta la vista is zeker een film met succes. De film over drie gehandicapte jongens die maar al te graag van hun maagdelijkheid verlost willen worden, is opnieuw in de prijzen gevallen. Ditmaal in Spanje, waar het de Golden Spike kreeg voor Beste Speelfilm op het Internationaal Filmfestival van Valladolid.

De drie hoofdrolspelers zijn Lars, Jozef en Philippe. Lars wordt gespeeld door Gilles De Schrijver. Hij werd bekend door zijn rol als computer – nerd in de populaire tv-reeks ‘Code 37”.

Robrecht Vanden Thoren (à Philippe) speelde de hoofdrol in de film ‘De laatste zomer’ en had ook een kleine rol in de overbekende Vlaamse film ‘Aanrijding in Moscou’.

Tom Oudenaert (à Jozef) is nog niet zo bekend, hij maakte zijn debuut met deze film.

De film is goed in elkaar gestoken. Als we naar de cinema gaan om een filmpje mee te pikken vragen we ons af: ”De film met Brad Pitt, of toch maar die met Cameron Diaz?”

Dit verfilmde verhaal is het bewijs dat er mooie en goede films bestaan, zonder dat er een of andere ‘hottie’ in meespeelt. Het concept is echt en realistisch, niet fake en computergestuurd zoals de laatste actiefilms van vandaag de dag. 

De film werd geregisseerd door Geoffrey Enthoven. Hij stond ook in voor de regie bij andere reeksen en films zoals: Dag en Nacht, Meisjes, Happy Together, Vidange Perdue, Sara, …

Met Hasta la Vista heeft hij toch zeker het meeste succes bereikt. De film werd verkocht aan maar liefst 9 andere landen. Het won ook belangrijke prijzen en lokte ongeveer 150.000 filmliefhebbers naar de zalen.

De film gaat over 3 beste vrienden die graag een reis willen maken, zonder hun ouders weliswaar. Dit zou wel eens voor problemen kunnen zorgen, zeker als je weet dat ze alle drie een fysieke handicap hebben. Wil jij weten hoe zij hun reis ervaren? En op welke manier ze kennis maken met Claude, de verzorgster? Of misschien ben je wel nieuwsgierig naar de jongen, wiens gezondheid zwaar achteruit gaat en zorgt voor een dramatisch einde van de film? Ga dan zeker een kijkje nemen in de filmzalen!
